The Heart to Help
I’m Kaushma, founder and operator of The Ribbons of Awareness Foundation. I’m a passionate visionary from Durham, North Carolina.
My journey to improving the lives of those in the healthcare community began in 2003 when my grandmother was diagnosed with cancer. As her battle began, the stresses of life and underwhelming quality of healthcare due to financial strains and her lack of health insurance resulted in her decline. After she passed away in 2009, I was determined to make a difference in the way struggling financially receive healthcare.
In the years to follow, I graduated with my master’s degree in Healthcare Management and have worked within the field of healthcare since.
In 2026, I began pursuing my vision of community work and outreach through The Ribbon of Awareness Foundation 501(c)(3) non-profit organization to better the lives and circumstances of those forgotten in the healthcare system due to their economic status.
